Homemade hair rinses. How to lighten the hair without the help of a hairdresser?

beauty.jpgColour-treating and bleaching the hair is considered to be its biggest threat. To avoid weakening the condition of your hair, try out homemade hair bleaching methods. Just make at least one of the suggested rinses and see how well it works.

For all people who do not want to dye their hair, a subtle change or improvement of their colour by at-home methods will be the best solution. Herbal rinses, but also natural hair oils or homemade face masks prepared with ingredients that can brighten your hair should be your go-to products. Contrary to what you might think, these are very effective, fast, inexpensive and easy methods. Do you want to get to know the homemade methods for lightening your hair?

HOW TO LIGHTEN NATURAL HAIR?

Chamomile hair rinse

The most popular hair brightening rinse is the one based on chamomile. This is one of the oldest methods that our grandmothers have already used in the past. It works best with blonde hair, as it brightens the strands, revealing stunning highlights.

How to prepare a chamomile hair rinse? You need a handful of dried chamomile leaves or 3-4 bags of chamomile tea. Use about a litre of hot water, cover and leave for 30 minutes. Before using chamomile hair rinse, it is recommended to strain it and cool it down.

To improve the effects, the chamomile hair rinse should be used regularly, preferably after each wash. How to apply it? It’s simple, just do the last rinsing of the hair with the chamomile brew. Brightening the hair with chamomile will be more effective if we spend 2-3 hours in the sun.

Honey and lemon hair rinse

The advantage of rinsing hair with lemon juice is the fact that it perfectly closes the hair scales. It not only brightens but also smoothes out the hair and improves its shine thanks to the acidic reaction. If you want to lighten your hair, you can use a lemon rinse instead of vinegar.

How to make lemon rinse with the addition of honey? Squeeze a whole lemon, dilute the juice with a glass of water (the amount can be increased while maintaining the right proportions) and add a tablespoon of natural honey which provides moisturizing properties.

After applying this mixture to the hair, it is worth rinsing it once again with clean and cool water to get rid of the feeling of stickiness. This method works a little slower than the above-mentioned chamomile rinse, but after 3-4 days you will see the first effects.

Rhubarb root hair rinse

Rhubarb is rarely used in hair care. Too bad, because it contains many valuable vitamins, including C, E, A, folic acid. Rhubarb hair rinse is a great way to lighten the hair of both brunettes, redheads and blondes.

How to prepare a rhubarb root hair rinse? Pour a litre of hot water over shredded rhubarb roots (3 spoons of powder is enough) and brew covered. After straining, add a tablespoon of honey so that the rinse does not dry the hair. What’s more, do not forget to cool it down before the use.

A paste with yoghurt, lemon and rhubarb

Rhubarb is also suitable for making a brightening face mask. Just add a portion of rhubarb to the boiling water and cook covered for about 5 minutes. Then, cool it down, blend to obtain a smooth mass, add 2 tablespoons of natural yoghurt, half a lemon juice and a tablespoon of moisturizing honey. This mask should be applied to the hair and secured with a shower cap for about 2 hours. After this time, wash and even re-wash your hair if necessary. The paste will work least intensively out of all the described methods, but women with blonde hair will get a nice, ashy shade.

Sunbaths

The easiest way to lighten your hair – both natural and dyed – is to expose it to sunlight. We do not really need any additional ingredients to lighten the strands. Unfortunately, this is not immediate. You will have to spend at least a few hours a day in the sun to lose its intense colour. Unfortunately, along with the colour, the hair also loses its glow and hydration, which is why it is not the best method.

Hydrogen peroxide

The bleaching of hair with hydrogen peroxide is very popular. It is the same ingredient that’s used by hairdressers during dyeing yet it is becoming more often used in home-made potions. Rinsing the hair with hydrogen peroxide every day results in losing the hair pigment much faster. Of course, the sun may strengthen and speed up the highlighting action of hydrogen peroxide.

Unfortunately, this is one of the worst ways to brighten the hair that we can use. Hydrogen peroxide can extremely damage the hair, leaving it fragile, brittle and dull. It is worth using alternative lightening methods.

HOW TO LIGHTEN DYED HAIR?

Anti-dandruff shampoo

What does a shampoo have to do with lightening your hair? A lot! The colour of dyed hair can be washed down. Washing the hair several times with anti-dandruff shampoo opens up the scales of the hair, thanks to which the dye gently rinses and the hair becomes brighter. It is worth remembering that some ingredients of anti-dandruff shampoos may be addictive.

Baking soda

Another way is to enrich an ordinary shampoo with a bit of baking soda, which in consequence, will gently brighten the strands. How to do it? Before each hair wash, mix the shampoo with 2 teaspoons of baking soda dissolved in a small amount of water. This simple procedure will allow you to rinse the pigment and brighten the too strong colour.
