Lavender oil – properties and application

Face care

Lavender oil contains antioxidants that have a protective and lifting effect on the skin. Therefore, it is a common ingredient of products dedicated to mature skin. The antioxidant properties of lavender oil are compared to those that are provided by vitamin C.

Lavender oil has antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory qualities. It meets the needs of complexion with imperfections, therefore it can be successfully used by people with acne skin. Lavender oil balances sebum secretion by narrowing sebaceous glands. In addition, it supports the treatment of psoriasis, ulceration and inflammation of the skin as well as accelerates wound healing. Also, it brings relief to sunburns and even reduces oedema.

Lavender oil can be applied directly to the skin, but it can cause irritation. That’s why, it is best to add a few drops to the toner or cream you use on a daily basis.

Body care

Lavender oil stimulates blood and lymph circulation, and as a result supports the fight against cellulite. The anti-fungal and anti-pruritus activity makes it equally suitable for use on the feet.

The same as in the case of skin care – a few drops of lavender oil can be added to a portion of the cosmetic, for example to a foot cream or body lotion, which we apply to the areas of the body affected with cellulite.

Hair care

Lavender oil will also work well in hair care. By stimulating blood circulation in the scalp, it will accelerate hair growth and prevent hair loss. In addition, because lavender oil regulates the work of sebaceous glands, soothes and has anti-inflammatory effects, it is a powerful weapon in the fight against dandruff and hair oiliness.

Lavender oil is best used in the form of a scalp lotion, so it should be massaged into the scalp. Such products containing oils should be applied to the hair at least one hour before washing.
