The best methods of hair removal. Which technique to choose?
Back then women were asking themselves whether to remove unwanted hair or not. Today, we rather ask which method of hair removal to choose. These days, smooth skin isn’t only considered as trendy but also more aesthetic and simply more beautiful.
Women who don’t remove their hair are in the minority, nowadays. Getting rid of hair growing on legs, armpits and the bikini area is considered obligatory if you want to be perceived as a neat and well-groomed female. There are women who remove hair growing on arms and even face; sometimes this down makes it hard to apply colour cosmetics evenly. Depending on the body part, there are various hair removal techniques recommended. Which are the best ones?
UNWANTED HAIR REMOVAL AT HOME
1. Razor
The easiest and the most frequently used tool to remove unwanted hair – a razor. Certainly, we can’t categorise this method as epilation because, by definition, it depends on removing hair together with its bulbs. Although using a razor doesn’t belong to this group of permanent hair removal methods, it has to be included into this list. Undoubtedly, this is the fastest and the cheapest way for getting smooth skin, yet it has its drawbacks as well. Removing hair due to razor is an easy way to get your skin irritated or cut. The effects aren’t long-lasting, too. Sometimes it happens that even on the following day from shaving we can notice tiny and prickly hair growing out. However, if you decide to use razor to remove unwanted hair from your body, remember to always reach for special shaving mousse or gel; don’t shave your hair dry.
2. Depilatory Cream
Removing hair due to special depilatory cream is also a cheap option that we can use at home. The products that soften and remove unwanted hair thanks to special combination of chemical substances are available in almost all drugstores. Cost of this kind of product isn’t high but this is rather a time-consuming method – the cream has to be applied to already prepared skin; then, we have to wait and, after that, collect the cream using a special spatula. Moreover, it’s worth realising that even the best depilatory creams can cause allergic reactions, therefore, before applying the cosmetic to the body, it’s advisable to run an allergy test first.
3. Wax Strips
Similarly to depilatory creams, wax strips are equally easy-accessible items. They work in a more effective way because they remove unwanted hair together with the bulbs. Thanks to this, the effects last definitely longer than after shaving; even up to 2-3 weeks. This hair removal method is fairly simple, yet time-consuming. In short, hand-warmed wax strips have to be put on skin, pressed firmly and then ripped from the skin by using a single, vigorous movement. Sadly, the effectiveness of wax stripes is connected with pain that accompanies pulling the hair out. On the other hand, the obvious advantage of wax is that it can be applied to all body parts.
4. Electric Epilator
Eagerly chosen owning to its cost-efficiency is electric epilation. Although this method is connected with investing quite a sum at the beginning, this device doesn’t require any additional expenses covered after the purchase. Despite being quite a costly device, the purchase pays off because you can keep using an electric epilator for a few long years. The effects of hair removal in this case lasts up to 4 weeks but, sadly, this procedure is very painful and occupies much time. It might take up even to 1-2 hours to remove hair and it depends on the surface we want to get smooth. Luckily, the level of pain that accompanies the procedure can be reduced by taking a hot bath right before it. This beauty hack opens hair follicles wider so it is easier to pull hair out.
5. IPL Laser Hair Removal
The innovative method of freeing your body from hair is IPL laser hair removal procedure. This is the most expensive method but it is slowly becoming easy-accessible due to popularisation and introducing handy IPL epilators into the market. Owning to this method, hair is removed permanently because laser beam deactivates hair follicles where hair stops growing from. Unfortunately, laser epilator affects only hair in its growth phase (anagen) therefore for complete hair removal there is a series of treatments required. The minuses of this method are a high price of the device as well as time that has to be devoted to the procedure. On the other hand, pluses are the best and the permanent effects. For those who consider home use of IPL device too difficult, it is suggested arranging a visit at a beauty parlour’s that offers this procedure.
6. Sugaring
One of the least known methods is body sugaring, which is popular in Arabian countries mostly. The truth is, sugaring paste can be either bought in a shop or prepared at home. When warmed in hands, it becomes gooey, similar to plasticine and very dense. When rubbed into skin, it clings to hair covering it from the roots to the ends. Therefore, when ripped off with one rapid movement, hair is removed alike during wax strips procedure. Although sugaring performed at home requires well-developed manual skills, it delivers a few week-long effects in the form of smooth skin. Unfortunately, this method still remains rather unpopular even though it is an eco-friendly and low-budget one.
