Beauty bugbears. How to combat them?
There are days that everything seems to go wrong: we can’t find our house keys, we spot a ladder in the new pair of stockings and make-up we’ve just applied in a rush blemishes us instead of enhancing our beauty. Our attempts to boost our looks and wear flawless make-up resemble a nasty fight. Comforting is that you’re not the only one facing this problem. Each of us happens to encounter such beauty bugbears but we know how to combat them, luckily.
1. Acne coming out of nowhere
Sometimes it’s a slight hormonal change, sometimes the consequence of following an improper diet but the most frequently it’s caused by weather changes and, suddenly, our face starts featuring acne. The irony here is that most often acne appears in the least appropriate moment so when we have a very important meeting scheduled or we’re about to attend a family get-together.
Salvage: always carry an antiseptic concealer which will camouflage acne and spots. If you want to draw attention from the skin blemishes, use white, loose powder to fix your make-up.
2. Tooth[lip]stick?
Indeed, it’s common and surely each of us happens to wear a lipstick on their teeth. Such marks look grotesque and deprive us of seriousness. What should we do to prevent the excess of lipstick from coming off and getting on teeth?
Salvage: coat your lips with a lipstick, make a duckface and put your finger into the mouth. In this way you will remove lipstick from the inner lip skin area, so the very area that can colour your teeth. Sometimes, application of a high quality primer can help you keep a lipstick in check for many hours.
3. Lashes all in lumps
Mascara can play tricks on us and one day, suddenly, instead of having perfectly separated, fanned-out lashes, this colour cosmetic attracts attention of others by leaving our lashes clumped. Sometimes, the situation is even worse because these are also clots of dried mascara that blemishes our eyes.
Salvage: first and foremost, remember to wash your mascara brush once per two weeks. Thanks to this, the excess of mascara won’t gather on the applicator as you will get rid of the dried mascara clots. If you happen to coat your lashes with this kind of dried product and your lashes feature lumps and mascara clots – reach for a lash comb, a clean mascara brush or just a toothbrush and comb the excess of mascara out.
4. Frizzy hair
Unfortunately, this happens frequently: slightly increased humidity is all it takes for your hair to misbehave, become unruly and unmanageable. Every single hair is affected by frizz and strands start loosing shine.
Salvage: in this case natural oils offer the best solution. They restore suppleness to hair, make it smooth and condition strands. Just spread a dash of a chosen oil on your palms and then apply it to the mid-lengths downwards. What’s important, make sure you don’t apply to much of the oil. Otherwise, your hair will be overburdened. It’s also worth realising that frequent hair oiling prevents possible future frizz.
5. Chipped nail polish
Let’s be honest, this happens too often. Doing housework, doing washing-up or frequent typing on your laptop keyboard are what encourage nail polish to chip. Sometimes we manage to notice this beauty flop in the morning, when we don’t have time to apply manicure.
Salvage: take a buffing block and gently file down the chip so as to smooth the edges it created. Fill the gap with a nail polish and then follow with a translucent top coat. In this way you will hide the chip and the entire procedure won’t take you more than 2-3 minutes only.
