How to apply gel nails?

Currently, gel nails are one of the most popular manicure techniques applied by beauticians. It is durable, long-lasting, easy to apply and many of your friends envy the effects produced on your the fingernails. Luckily enough, you do not have to visit a beauty parlour to have gel fingernails done. Learn what is the manner of applying gel nails at home and which accessories are needed in order to do this kind of manicure.

Before you start doing gel nails, collect all crucial accessories and devices. You will need: emery boards for filing and polishing nail plates, a wooden cuticle pusher, a UV lamp, a gel primer, a top coat, a gel nail polish and a moisturizing oil.

At the beginning, disinfect your hands. Use a special liquid containing disinfectant agents. You do not have to cut the nails, suffice to file their edges with the emery board. After that, it is advised to make nails a little bit matte. This will help the nail polish to get absorbed, which in turn, results in better and longer hold. If you notice that your nail plate is uneven, use a gel of building-up properties, that is good at filling all the cavities. The product has to be hardened under the UV lamp, then wiped with a cotton pad damped with spirit (alcohol for making things clean) and made matte.

When all the fingernails are polished, push back the cuticles with the wooden stick. You can mattify the part of the nail that has been occupied by the cuticles. Wipe the dust that happens to gather on nails during this activity and degrease the nail plates. Now, cover the surface of fingernails with a primer (it will make the gel holds better). The primer has to stay on the fingernails at least for a minute, after that it should evaporate. Next, coat your fingernails with a thin layer of a gel polish, omitting cuticles. Put the fingers under the UV lamp for around 3 minutes. After that, coat the nails with another, this time thicker, layer of the gel and make it hard under the UV lamp.

Now, wipe the nails with a cotton pad damped with spirit. Time for filing nail plates. Focus only on filing out the excess of the gel polish that accumulate mainly near finger skin (lateral and proximal nail fold). Again, use the spirit for the second time to decrease nail plates. Apply the last layer of gel manicure with the top coat and make it hard under the UV lamp. The last step, apply the moisturizing oil on both fingernails and hands.
