How to cover up the signs of illness with make-up?
Make-up during illness – preparation
Cold and runny nose force you to constantly reach for tissues, which in consequence makes the skin around the nose red and flaky. In order to moisturize it, before applying makeup, it is necessary to smooth it with vaseline or a few drops of oil and wait 5-10 minutes. In turn, the swelling around the nose can be covered up with contouring. During your sickness, it is better to abstain from astringent toners and mattifying creams that irritate dry skin.
To camouflage red eyes, you can apply drops that will reduce redness of the conjunctiva and apply them a moment before doing makeup. Shimmering eye or pink eyeshadows and red lipsticks enhance the shine typical for a sickness, so do not use them until you recover.
Make-up during illness – how to do it?
First of all, apply a light moisturizing cream to the cleansed face and moisturize lips with a lip balm. Next, apply a brightening primer to the entire face omitting the eye area. Paint the eyelids with a matte pressed eyeshadow (or a creamy one). Use a darker colour to mark the crease of the upper eyelid, and use a shiny light or iridescent eyeshadow just below the eyebrow. Apply a generous amount of mascara to eyelashes. However, if your eyes get watery, use waterproof mascara or apply it only to the tips of eyelashes.
Apply a foundation with prolonged durability that will not dry out the skin. You can choose between a moisturizing, full coverage and brightening foundation. Next, add some of the concealers under your eyes. Use dark brown stick or powder just under the cheekbones and on the edges of the nose, then rub them with a brush or sponge for proper contouring. Use a wide brush to apply the fixing powder. Enhance the face shape with a bronzer and mark the temples with the highlighter.
As for your lips, outline their shape with the use of a lip liner in a shade as close as possible to your natural lip colour. Finally, shape and fill in your eyebrows with a pencil, a powder or a pomade.
