Sunburned Scalp? How to Prevent and Heal?
Summer is the time when we can finally put on airy dresses, lightweight sandals and short skirts. Unfortunately, we often forget about hats. Result? Dry hair and burnt scalp. If you want to avoid such unpleasant situations, follow a few tips.
PREVENT
If you are planning on a trip, sunbath or strolling in the city, you must put on a hat, headscarf or cap. Use cosmetics that protect your hair and scalp from the sunlight. Stay at home when it is scorching hot. Avoid sunbathes at midday and do not get deceived by the chilly wind during heat waves.
HEAL AND CARE
If you did not manage to avoid sunburns, treat them as quickly as possible. Is your skin red and sore? Soothing products or over-the-counter pharmaceuticals will be enough. Products with panthenol, aloe or allantoin work great. If you noticed blisters on your scalp and your skin flakes – immediately go to the dermatologist. What is more, take proper care of the burnt face skin. Forget about cosmetics with SLS, herbs and salt. I heard that cold compresses work quite well.
HAIR AND SCALP MASKS
Use masks during an everyday hair care routine or for the irritated scalp. They should contain emollients, aloe vera, honey, hyaluronic acid, oils, urea and panthenol. Thanks to them, your scalp will be hydrated, soothed and protected from potential damage and further sunburns. While using masks, follow instructions on the packaging to see amazing effects.
DO NOT TOUCH!
If the scalp is itchy or flakes off, you mustn’t touch it. Doing so, you would worsen the condition and lead to the occurrence of infection. Besides, if you suffer from headaches, feel dizzy or sick, go to the doctor! You might have gotten a sunstroke. Do not neglect any symptoms.
