beauty.jpgThe black mask for blackheads is made of activated charcoal and bentonite clay, thanks to which it attracts skin impurities like a magnet. This homemade cosmetic is perfect for cleansing the skin of blackheads, and as a result, it leaves the face smooth. Get to know the recipe for a mask for removing blackheads.

What are blackheads and why do they appear on the skin?

Blackheads are small pimples with a black colour. The reason for their formation is clogged hair follicles, which in turn are a consequence of abnormal exfoliation of the epidermis and secretion of sebum through the skin.

Because the blackheads contain oxidized melanin (a pigment produced by skin cells called melanocytes), their surface is dark. Blackheads usually appear on the forehead, chin and nose, less often on the back, neck and shoulders. It is a mild form of acne that affects most people regardless of age.

The main causes of the formation of blackheads:

  • improper skin care,
  • pore-clogging cosmetics,
  • excessive sweating,
  • inappropriate diet,
  • various diseases,
  • medicines that promote skin keratosis.

In order to take care of your skin properly, you should regularly cleanse your face, exfoliate it and apply a mask. In the case of the latter, a black mask for blackheads will be a great solution.

Recipe for a black mask for blackheads

The main components of the cleansing mask for blackheads are:

  • activated charcoal,
  • bentonite clay.

Activated charcoal applied topically has a beneficial effect on the complexion because it gets rid of pore impurities. In turn, bentonite clay absorbs toxins and eliminates bacteria responsible for causing acne.

Ingredients:

  • 2 capsules or 1/4 teaspoon of powdered activated charcoal,
  • 1-2 teaspoons of bentonite clay,
  • 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar,
  • 1-2 teaspoons of water.

Mix all ingredients together to create a thick paste. Before applying the mask to your face, run an allergy test on the wrist or on the skin behind your ear. If the test turns out successful proceed with the mask. Firstly, cleanse the skin with a lotion or toner, dry it with a towel and cover with the black mask. Apply it to the entire face, bypassing the area around the eyes and mouth. You may as well apply it only to selected parts of the facial skin. Leave the mask on the skin for about 10 minutes, then wash your face with lukewarm water. If the skin appears too tight, apply a moisturizing cream.

Remember to use only wooden dishes and cutlery to prepare the mask, as charcoal and clay attract metal toxins.
