DIY sunscreen. Can it protect you from the sun?

homemade-sunscreen.jpgSummer in full swing, your vacation is about to start but you still don’t know how to protect your skin against this not-always-good solar radiation. If you don’t feel like wandering around the shops and pharmacies to look for a good sunscreen, you can make it on your own. You aren’t even aware how easy it is!

Is the sun good or bad?

There is no life, energy nor warmth without the sun. Our organism needs sun rays to produce vitamin D that is responsible for maintaining skeletal system, for example. But can the sun cause harm? Surely it can, especially if delivered in huge dosages. Aftermath? Pigmentation marks, wrinkles, cancer, sunburns and many other unpleasant and troublesome ailments.

Cream with UV filter

Cream, which shields against UVA and UVB radiation contains 10% of zinc oxide. Action delivered by this type of filter depends on creating a layer on skin that bounces back sun rays. It’s a physical filter and provides the best sun protection known to a human. Moreover, such cream also features raspberry seed oil that works anti-age, combats free radicals, regenerates and moisturises.

Homemade sunscreen. DO IT YOURSELF

To prepare the ingredients for your homemade sunscreen, you need to collect:

water phase: boiled water (15 g/0.52 oz.) and glycerine (1 g/0.03 oz.);

oil phase: emulsifier (2,4 g/0.84 oz.) and raspberry seed oil (8 g/ 0.28 oz.);

extra phase: micronized zinc oxide (3 g / 0.10 oz.) and eco preservative (0,5 g / 0.01 oz.).

Pour raspberry seed oil and emulsifier to a glass bowl and then warm them up in a water bath. Add glycerine and mix thoroughly. After that, slowly keep pouring oily phase and combine the ingredients using a food mixer. You will notice your homemade sunscreen getting thicker, and when it reaches 40°C add micronized zinc oxide and preservative. Place your DIY sunscreen in a jar and store for maximally 3 months in a dry and cool room.
