How are wrinkles formed and why does the skin age?

Natural-Remedies-for-WrinklesThere is one thing in life you have no influence on. It is the ageing of the skin and the formation of wrinkles. Fortunately, you can delay this process by applying appropriate cosmetics and avoiding factors that cause senile imperfections.

What is skin ageing?

Skin ageing is an inevitable and natural process that affects everyone. It consists in inhibiting cell activity, slowing down the processes of reconstruction and the loss of adaptability by our body. Genetic, external and internal factors also affect ageing processes.

Why is the skin ageing?

With age, the body reacts less well to stress, the intercellular damage is likely to occur, and the body’s self-healing abilities decrease. Ageing is also associated with environmental influences and innate mechanisms. There are different types of skin ageing. These include: ageing due to facial mimics, ageing related to age or hormonal changes and extrinsic ageing as a result of external factors such as frequent sunbathing or taking stimulants.

How are wrinkles formed?

The ageing of the organism begins already around the age of 25. The epidermis disappears because its density decreases. Subcutaneous tissue and the supra-epithelial layer are narrowing, the blood supply to the skin is reduced, and the collagen and elastin fibres disappear. From the genetic point of view, the body gets old because the number of healthy cells is reduced. Their divisions disappear, which is related to damage to the DNA structure. Do you know that there are several hundred genes responsible for ageing? These are stress-related genes that are responsible for the destruction of tumours, cell divisions and genes related to the regulation of energy components.

How does the skin age?

Our whole body undergoes aging processes, including:

1. Epidermis – lipid production decreases and the epidermis gets thinner and thinner. However, the stratum corneum, becomes thicker, making the complexion dull and gray in color. Dye cells are damaged, hence many discolorations appear. The hydro-lipid barrier becomes thinner and loses the ability to protect against harmful external factors.

2. Skin – is aging due to a decrease in the number of cells responsible for the production of collagen and elastin. The number of sebaceous glands also decreases, thanks to which the skin maintains proper hydration. All this leads to the formation of wrinkles.

How to delay skin aging?

To delay skin aging, use the following substances: vitamin A, hydroxy acids, antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, UVA and UVB filters.
