Mineral beauty products are made for each of us, being safe and delivering a beautiful effect and long-wear makeup. Too bad, some girls don’t know how to apply them the right way. To get the hang of it, find out which mistakes to avoid while applying a loose mineral foundation.

1. Applying a loose mineral foundation over a liquid foundation

Even if mineral foundations are loose, they won’t work like loose powders applied over the fluid foundation. Why? After a few hours, the foundations will look cakey. No matter how much you apply, the loose mineral foundation and fluid foundation don’t make a good match. The type of an applicator or the brand of a product doesn’t matter here.

2. Wrong application

Applying thin layers and gradually adding next coats give the best effects. There’s no point in applying a lot of the product at once – in this way, you’ll end up with dark spots or foundation rubbing off. You need the tiniest amount of the mineral foundation for a flawless makeup.

3. You got the wrong shade

Lots of girls make this mistake. We use too dark or too light shades. As a result, we get spots or smears on the skin, looking sick or much older. How to choose the right shade of mineral foundation? It’s a bit different than in case of a traditional foundation. You apply a bit of the product to the neck skin. Mineral foundations are available in lots of shades so each of you is going to find the perfect one.

4. Wrong formula

There are mineral foundations for different skin types, giving a different finishing touch. There are mattifying foundations for oily skin and illuminating ones for dull skin. Some manufacturers of mineral foundations provide charts with a division of skin types, shades and tones on their websites.

5. Not primed skin

Mineral powders tend to make the skin look dry. We will avoid such unwanted effects if we make sure the skin is primed first. Remember about exfoliation, moisturizers, masks and protection from the elements.

6. Clogged skin pores & irritations

Even mineral foundations might cause allergic reactions and clog the skin pores yet it is less common. Irritated and clogged skin can be caused by other skin products, imprecise makeup removal or a skin disease, too.
